Royal Life King Sweater Sizing: How It Fits

October 08, 2026 3 min read

The Royal Life King sweater is one of the most recognizable pieces we carry. Ever since Jamie Foxx wore it in Baby Driver, the king of hearts design has been a cult favorite. If you have already read the story in our post on the King sweater and Baby Driver, this guide is the practical follow-up: how it fits, how to choose your size and how to get the two-sided movie look.

How the King Sweater Fits

The King sweater is a classic crewneck with the king of hearts design on the front. It is cut for a clean, everyday fit rather than an oversized one. From our experience on the floor, many clients find it runs on the smaller side, so a lot of people go up one size from their usual fit.

That said, everybody is built differently. Before you order, check the Fit & Sizing tab on the product page and compare it to our size guide. Measurements are listed for each size, and that is the most reliable way to choose.

How to Choose Your Size

Measure a sweater you love. Lay a crewneck that fits you well flat, measure across the chest from armpit to armpit, and compare to the product page measurements.

Decide on the fit you want. If you want it close and clean under a jacket, stay closer to your measurement. If you want a relaxed, roomier look, go up.

Think about layering. Planning to wear a shirt or thermal underneath? Give yourself a little more room.

The Three Colors

The red King sweater is the one from the movie and the boldest way to wear it. The black King sweater keeps the design but reads darker and easier for everyday. The white King sweater is the cleanest of the three and pops against dark denim. Fit notes are on each product page, so check the color you want before ordering. See them all in our Royal Life collection.

How to Recreate the Baby Driver Two-Sided Look

In the film, the sweater shows the king design on both the front and the back. The stylist created that by combining two sweaters. The sweater Royal Life makes, and the one we sell, has the design on the front only.

If you want the exact on-screen version, here is how to do it:

1. Buy two sweaters in the same color and size. Red is the movie color.

2. Take both to a skilled tailor. Ask them to use the front panel of the second sweater as the back panel of the first.

3. Try it on before final stitching. Knitwear can shift when it is cut and sewn, so a fitting helps the shoulders and side seams line up.

Results depend on your tailor, so pick someone experienced with knitwear.

How to Wear It

Red King sweater, dark denim and clean boots or sneakers is the classic. For something sharper, layer the black version under a leather jacket. Need jeans to match? Our Kash jeans collection has dark washes that work with all three colors.
